[Review] Guilty Pleasures – Anita Blake #01 Laurell K. Hamilton

This is the book to tell  us that no mater what is your size… you can made a great things.

Sinopsys –  “My name is Anita Blake. Vampires call me “The Executioner”. What I call them isn’t repeatable.
Ever since the Supreme Court granted the undead equal rights, most people think vampires are just ordinary folks with fangs. I know better. I’ve seen their victims. I carry the scars…
But now a serial killer is murdering vampires—and the most powerful bloodsucker in town wants me to find the killer… “
“In a world where vampires, zombies and werewolves have been declared legal citizens of the United States, Anita Blake is an “animator” – a profession that involves raising the dead for mourning relatives. But Anita is also known as a fearsome hunter of criminal vampires, and she’s often employed to investigate cases that are far too much for conventional police. But as Anita gains the attention of the vampire masters of her hometown of St Louis, she also risks revealing an intriguing secret about herself – the source of her unusual strength and power.”

With his  first publication in 1993, by Ace Books , come to  give  a   little  unlimitless in its acidity that collects penguins, hear Mozart, and let’s not forget his work to raise the dead besides being vampire executioner  this is Anita Blake…

” You’re not even a little more human than me – he said.”
                                    Guilty Pleasures.p.11

Laurell leads us into a fantastic universe where vampires, werewolves and lycanthropes and humans has their differences and their alliances.
Besides the action scenes well described, what more captivates me in history is without no doubt the attitudes of Anita, she is definitely a girl who has not mincing words. She speaks what is on her mind no matter where or to whom, This is very specific when she  face the master vampire of the city:

” Wow! “Look into my eyes!” I imagined that the master vampire of the city could be more original.”
                                                                                                         Guilty Pleasures.p.87

In this first adventure, our little executor is” forced” to find a vampire slayer who comes to frightening   many powerful vampires and  and especially does not leave tracks.

” – The master of the city made me an offer I could not refuse. (…)
– Do not believe –  That’s what you get for telling the truth, they call you a liar. Many people accept a plausible lie better than the truth unlikely. In fact, they prefer to lie.
– Like any vampire could threaten the Executioner?
– I am not the bogeyman, Rebecca. Have you ever met the master of the city?
-No.
– So, you have to trust me. I smudge of her fear. Anyone in right mind, would fuck up. ‘
                                      Guilty Pleasures.p.158
In the plot we also besides Anita  whe have  Jean Claude  an old vampire, who also excels in stories, either by being the owner of the nightclub  Guilty Pleasures , as the strength of his power. His behavior is peculiar, because from the beginning we see him flirting with Anita, however during the course, we see a hand slightly” human” so to speak, and we are sucked into a world where the strong dominate.

Besides we have Philip a vampire as Anita herself  says,” where he removed her blouse, my brain took your lunch hour.” (P210). Besides being the sexy vampire  he also have scars  and we also have a doubt which side he is.
The series is very good, from what you can not finish a chapter without having read at least two jokes or situations with a large pinch of black humor.

‘ … most of the time I stay awake while confronting and destroying things that I fear. An ancient master vampire was a bit too much, but a goal is always important in a woman’s life.”
                                                                                   Guilty Pleasures.p.308

Well after all I chose a soundtrack with the attitude of Anita Taking Over me by evanescence.

Enjoy and we see  again in a other day !!!
